UFS observes Africa Day with a different theme each year. This year's theme as declared by the African Union was "The AU Year of the Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want." Walter Mignolo gave the Memorial Lecture at Annual Africa Day online for University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa, hosted by the Centre for Gender and Africa Studies with discussant Sabelo J.
