Online Talk: Rabat, Morocco and Durham, North Carolina
School of International Training critical scholar Taieb Belghazi and leading decolonial theorist Walter Mignolo engage with postcolonialism and decolonial thought, providing a critical reading of major decolonial concepts such as Modernity/Coloniality, the Colonial Matrix of Power, Delinking, Gnoseology, and Aesthesis. From these introductory philosophical reflections, the concept of globalization is revisited to offer a decolonial reading of current events, namely, COVID-19, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the crisis of democracy. SIT Dean of Faculty Said Graiouid moderates this Perspectives from the Global South Faculty Lecture as the first event of a semester-long Critical Conversations Webinar Series.
