African Citizenship and the Ownership of Material and Intellectual Culture(s)

The Chair in Epistemologies of the Global South with Emphasis on Africa at the University of Bayreuth in Germany in collaboration with the Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS) at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa are launching a collaborative research project and seminar series on the theme: "The Changing African Idea of Africa and the Future of African Studies". This collaborative research starts with a series of seminars beginning in April 2022 consisting of invited speakers to address various aspects of the idea of Africa and the future of African Studies, and indeed expanding to the broader issues of epistemologies of the Global South. These seminars are held every month.

The eighth seminar in the series features Akosua Adomako Ampofo, professor of African and Gender Studies at the University of Ghana. Her talk is titled "African Citizenship and the Ownership of Material and Intellectual Culture(s)".
